LI Modern

Completed in two phases, maa designs helped to transform a classic modern home built in 1965 into a classic modern home updated in 2015.

The first phase of work included replacing a sixteen foot area of exterior wall at the front of the house with double, over-sized sliding glass doors creating a light filled space out of a dark room.  The doors lead to a newly added curved deck, only 30" off the ground level, which serves as a transition from the interior to the exterior and the beautiful wooded site.

In the next phase of work, the master bathroom was gutted and modernized and a new Guest Bathroom was added in a previous walk-in closet. Raised platforms were removed and the plumbing reconfigured.  The Master Bath includes a deep soaking tub by the large window while large medicine cabinet mirrors reflect the mature landscaping creating a tree house effect.  An asymmetrical, operable skylight was cut into the flat roof over the Guest Bathroom bringing in light and fresh air.  White marble finishes and fixtures were used along side clear cedar paneling respectful of the aesthetic of the existing house.

Phase three, a new chef's kitchen is currently being designed for the ground floor and will incorporate encaustic cement tile floor and quartzite grey countertops.
