High above the Santa Cruz Mountains, on a stunning ten acre site that commands views from San Francisco to Silicon Valley, maa designs was commissioned in 2001 to design a residential estate for a young couple and their their growing family.  Both classic and contemporary, the architecture reflects the scale and construction of a lodge while retaining the open plan, relationship to light and the dimensional rigor of modern design.  The logic of the architecture is driven by views, light, landscape and program.
