LI Farmhouse

For a one hundred fifty year-old farmhouse in a beautiful setting on rural Long Island, maa designs  was hired to analyze and design a plan to bring together the various elements on the site into a cohesive whole.

The project included creating a new landscaped main entrance and approach, eliminating the walls of an exisitng addition and turning it into a sun-drenched screened-in porch, designing a new kitchen and foyer area, creating a small terrace off the second-floor master bedroom and finally, turning an unused garage into a pool house with a bathroom, kitchenette and storage.  Working closely with an expeditor, maa designs was able to help secure permits for the work through various town and county agencies.

Details for the main house include jewel-tone quartzite stone, solid walnut counters, pierced copper pendant lights  and shelves handmade by a local craftsman in kitchen; wood screens with copper mesh and solid mahogany flooring on the porch; and ipe deck and railing surrounded by pea size gravel on the terrace.  Working closely with the client and contractor, maa desings was able to recycle doors, windows and flooring from the porch to include in the pool house.
